John Peet, Europe Editor, was previously Business Affairs Editor (from 1998), responsible for the business, finance and economics and science & technology coverage of the paper. Prior to this he had been Brussels Correspondent, Executive Editor, Surveys Editor, Finance Correspondent, Washington, DC, Correspondent and Britain Correspondent. Before joining The Economist he was a civil servant, working for the Treasury and the Foreign Office from 1976 to 1986. He is the co-author of "Unhappy Union: How the Euro Crisis - and Europe - Can Be Fixed", published by Profile Books May 2014.

David Buik
Market Commentator, Panmure Gordon and Representative of the Vote Leave Campaign
David Barlow Buik MBE is a businessman and financial pundit for the BBC and other British, American and Australian television channels. He is a representative of the Vote Leave Campaign. Buik was born in Montreal and moved to the UK in 1949. He was educated at Harrow School.
He started to work at Philip Hill Higginson Erlangers in the City of London. He later worked for RP Martin, Kirkland Whitaker, London Deposit Agencies, Money Market Agencies, MY Marshall, and City Index Group. The companies he has worked for mostly involved financial spread betting. He worked for BGC Partners from 1999 to 2011. He has appeared as a financial pundit on the BBC, Bloomberg Television, CNN International and ABC News (Australia). He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to financial services.
